We all have that one game that got shut down and left a hole in our gaming life. For me it is Star Wars Galaxies pre-CU. The sandbox freedom, the player economy, the cantina culture. Nothing has come close.\n\nWhat game haunts your memories?

PlanetSide 1. The scale of those continent battles has never been matched. Three factions fighting over real territory with real consequences. PS2 tried but lost the magic.

Ultima Online for me. Specifically the Felucca days before Trammel split the playerbase. Full loot PvP was terrifying and exhilarating. My hands would literally shake during fights.

SWG without question. I spent three years as a Master Weaponsmith on Bloodfin. Had a shop in Theed with regulars who would come in just to chat. The NGE destroyed everything that made it special.

Asheron Call monthly updates that permanently changed the world. When the Shard fell, everyone on the server rallied together. You literally could not recreate that in a modern MMO.

City of Heroes. I had a Fire/Fire Blaster named Cinderfall who I played for over 3000 hours. When they shut the servers down I actually cried. Not ashamed to admit that.

I wrote a song about every game mentioned in this thread. That is how much I miss them all. The dead MMO genre is my muse.
