Defending a base with 5 people against a 40-person assault. We held for 45 minutes using turrets, mines, and spite. When reinforcements finally arrived it was the most satisfying moment in any game ever.

I think the real loss was community size. When a server had 3000 people, everyone knew each other. You had rivalries, alliances, famous players. Megaservers killed server identity.

We all have that one game that got shut down and left a hole in our gaming life. For me it is Star Wars Galaxies pre-CU. The sandbox freedom, the player economy, the cantina culture. Nothing has come close.\n\nWhat game haunts your memories?
