I play on Homecoming regularly and I love it. But you are right, it is not the same as 2005 when everything was new and the community was massive. Still, it is the closest thing we have.

Amtgard healer main in real life too! The community crossover between tabletop RPG players, MMO players, and LARPers is huge. We are all just looking for immersive worlds to inhabit.

If you like community-focused games, definitely look into City of Heroes. It had the friendliest community in MMO history. The private server scene is still active if you want to try it.

I have been playing in DungeonDiver42 Thursday game for 6 months. Can confirm the Nexus tools work great. The dice roller with custom formulas saves so much time.
