LARP communities - still going strong
Live Action Role Playing has been around since the 1970s and it is more popular than ever. From medieval combat sports like Dagorhir and Belegarth to theatrical Nordic LARP, the scene is incredibly diverse.\n\nAnyone here active in LARP communities? I have been doing Amtgard for 12 years.

Former SCA member here. 20 years of heavy combat and A&S competitions. The Society has been preserving medieval recreation culture since 1966. It is basically a living history archive.

I do theatrical LARP. More story-focused, less combat. The emotional intensity of a well-run Nordic LARP is unlike anything in digital gaming. You cannot simulate genuine human connection.

Amtgard healer main in real life too! The community crossover between tabletop RPG players, MMO players, and LARPers is huge. We are all just looking for immersive worlds to inhabit.
